There is defiantly a deeper satisfaction in tricking a fish with something you have made yourself. You should pick up a cheap fly rod kit and build yourself a rod. I got started with a 2wt fly rod kit I got for my birthday years ago. Its pretty easy building a serviceable fly rod.

7'6 12-50lb spinning rod. Just finished. Made for fishin live bait under large floats for big fish.

Thanks! Shore fishin has been impossible this year. The river has been blow out for most of the season but its finally getting back within the banks, just in time for the spawn to shut the action down. Only a few fish in the 20lb + range so you have a great chance!

Me too I think it would look great weaved into the butt section but I have no idea how to do that yet. Perhaps a winter time project.
