Fishin Missoula- Trooper meet?(now w/trip report)

I'm excited for the Ween show in Missoula. I'll be bringing some rods and hope to hit at least some of the Clark Fork on my way up before the show, maybe after too. It's lookin like an early spring so there should be some good water then. Maybe if we get our shit together we can do a float. We can fit 2-4 more comfortably on the raft. Any other troopers goin wanna meet up?

Josh, I was just invited to fish with a guide service there, for free! I have to see what our schedule is though, I know the festival is the next day, but if I'm there the night before I might be willing to wake up early and fish. i'll make sure you get in on that action with me.

Just got my tickets. lt's a sunday so we'll probably make a weekend out of it and do some fishin before hand. Theres some sweet spots to hang out and fish/swim on the Clark's Fork. I'm hoping the weather will be nice. I'll keep the Troop up to date on our plans as they evolve. It would be awesome to do a multi-boat Trooper float. Who else is going?

I would be in for a float too! I have a 16' clack & a couple seats open. Go for the Clark Fork grand slam... Brown Trout, Squaw Fish, Whitefish, & Pike! I really need a ticket for Sunday so if anyone wants to trade a day on the water, flies, local beer or $$ let me know-

I'm going to bring my rods but not the boat. Any reports from up there? Are the rivers blown out?

*****Long Post Warning*****

Just reporting back to the troopers on our weekend trip up to Montana to see Ween and try to fish. What a great weekend considering our distraught bereaved state.

We started off and went through the Big Hole Valley in MT and stayed the night at Jackson Hot Springs in
Jackson MT.

Here's the inside of the lodge- pure Montana.

This band called Soul Division played that night. A cowboy dude singin and playin guitar and a frumpy woman on bass. The beats came out of the laptop. Sorry no pic of them.
Image

We listened to brown eyed girl, sweet home alabama (w/no lead) and a heart wrenching version of mr. bojangles (sad doggy song) while soaking in the hot pool where you can drink
Image

The next day we went toward missoula hoping to fish there or near by.I spoke to the Cap & he was thinkin about fishin but was on a tight schedule. Most of the water in town was blown out anyway but I tried on the Clark Fork across from the hotel. The sun was out so it was nice but I got skunked. So we went to this bar
Image

Then to this one place to see this one band.

It was great we got to hang with the Captain for a bit after the show before they had to motor off to WA.
The next day we saw some interesting sights like this sign of the times
Image

It rained most of the trip but Gayle and I still fished on the Bitteroot at a pretty spot called Poker Joes. Then we stopped at the Beaverhead just below Clark Canyon Dam and I caught two little browns right off the bat. Only 12" or so.
Image

Then we went to the metropolis of Dell Montana where they have this restaurant in this old school. The burger was awesome. Classic Montana. Strangely enough, they didn't serve bison burgers.

Here's the ledger of all the teachers and their salaries from 1898 ($60/month) to 1962 ($440)
Image

and this bar next door. As you can see I make an effort to support small businesses like myself.

Image

Its 220 miles from missoula and 3168 miles from Jackson Miss. if you ever want to go.
