Waking up early on the first day in NZ i had a massive hangover due to duty free vodka. It was 4 degrees and raining. Oh well i enjoy a challenge.
My guide Roger picked me up at the hotel for the 45 minute drive to Lake Moke.

Roger spent about two hours fine tuning my fly casting. It was tuff going due to my lack of experience, but we stuck with it. After a quick coffee and a few homemade shortbread bickies it was time to get serious.
The wind and rain stopped and we started to spot a few fish.

Roger spotted a nice fish. " Put it right on that tuft of grass" I cast a shakey 6ft from it. "quick wind it in and try again, no wait hes seen it!" "your on"
"are you sure roger, i got no tension"
"im sure start winding"
Then i saw the fish roll and it was on. It put up a hell of a fight.

A few minutes later i spotted another fish hiding in the shallows. I put a perfect cast right in front of his nose. The water was so clear i could see the white of the inside of his mouth as he took the fly.

I had a few more enquiries and one more hook up, but couldnt stay connected.
It was awesome and Roger is a great person and excellent guide.
