Polarized sunglasses

Polarized sunglasses

Postby Travis » Wed Apr 14, 2010 8:57 pm

My hierarchy of gear:

1) bait,lure,fly- for obvious reasons

2) line/terminal tackle- the only thing between you and the fish

3) a good set of polarized sunglasses

4) fishing rod

5) reel (* exception, a good baitcaster, if you use one, is more important to me than the rod)

I would trade my $300 fly rod for a curtain rod and a length of clothes line, give me a quality set of polarized optics and I will out fish anyone without 4 to 1, no question. Costa's are nice, but even the $40 bass pro knock-offs with the correct color lens (yellow/amber) will improve your success.

Anyone who fishes for trout already knows this, and trolling doesn't count.

When you get up in the morning and the light is hurt'n your head
The first thing you do when you get up out of bed
Is hit that river a-runnin' and try to find the splashes
And go get yourself some cheap (polarized) sunglasses

Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah

I rock native silencers. I like a polarized lens to wrap around my eye sockets sort of like goggles. They come with three sets of lenses but I don't think the other tints are polarized.

It seems to keep the unfiltered light out which can effect my vision on really bright days.

I also have polarized lenses for my oakley flak jackets but they are not as good of a lens because they are flatter and don't wrap around my face as much.

I like this thread. I've been trying to figure out which kind to buy, the ones I have are not too great and let too much light in around the lenses. keep posting your preferences everyone, I need a new pair of glasses and your help is appreciated.

The last couple years I have been buying a new pair of Calcutta brand each spring. They are about 20-25 bucks a piece so I don't feel like a tard when I scratch them up like i always do. I'm sure they aren't as good as the more expensive ones but they get the job done.

Maui Jim's have treated me right for years. Pricey, but worth every penny.
