ya, that lil dude had swallowed the hook and was pissed. tried it's best to sting me w/a fin barb. i get the glove out fo grip, too...they don't wiggle as much, i can get the hook out and release em quicker. always have a glove in the tackle fo sculpins and bullheads...been stung a couple times before. C:

there is lmbass and redear sunfish in there, too. it's fed by an irrigation canal that splits off the deschutes river, ten miles back, in bend. this canal allows the entire ranchin community of alfalfa to survive, out in the badlands.

crooked river

Image
many, many rock climbers that day, hundreds. most o em came to town to see dr jane goodall speak, like i did. each one wanted to see a fish and chat...about the rattlesnakes they saw, where they should have suppa or whateva.

Image
bite was so gud, kept sayin...oh, just a couple mo! lol

Image
at nine i thought, just two mo and i'll go. without a flashlight, would of had to leave much sooner...not climbin outta there w/all the snakes, in the dark.

Image
as i packed up, let my bait rest where i had a bite a few times and lost it. went to reel in and thought it got stuck. started to hand pull the line in...in the dark, couldn't see what i had! pulled it up on deck and whoa! 23 inch butter~bellied suckerfish! endangered species...awesome.
